Black-bellied Plover

Low tides around the full moon can be an amazing time for water pools and reflections of nearshore birds. This male Black-bellied plover is in breeding plumage. Breeding males are a dazzling mix of black and white: checkered upperwings, a black face and belly, a white crown, nape, and undertail, and dark legs and bill.
