On the way to photograph some nesting birds on the beach, we encountered a Tri-colored Heron feeding in the shallow waters. We crept up slowly and stayed low in the water so we wouldn't scare off our subject. Once we had a decent position, we sat and waited for the Tri-colored Heron to approach us. To our dismay, this tri-colored was focused on hunting and walked within a couple feet of us. This shot was taken from about 8 feet away before I lost my minimum focusing distance and had to watch this guy hunt right next to us.
