The sun was just starting to rise above the trees, casting a strong light on the foliage behind this burrowing owl. This also happened to be my first time encountering a burrowing owl perched on a natural object. Most of the time these owls occupy vacant home lots that have man-made T-perches which the owls commonly use near their burrow instead.
